Chapter 1
Yellow Emperor is considered the founding father of China.
- But didn't actually create China, just got it reunited. China was already there.
- Similar thing happens with Confucious.
- Wanted to reestablish the principles of Harmony of the golden age.
Chapter 4
In 1715, the Chinese let the Russian establish a Russian orthodox mission in Beijing. Eventually became an embassy.

Chapter 5
July, 1953: Armistice agreement
- Settling on the same prewar line of the 38th parallel.
- Everybody lost this war.
- Mao was victorious in that he proved that China was a military power and center of Asian revolution.
- Mao framed the war as an effort to put America back in its place.
- Biggest loser was Stalin, who had started the whole thing by giving green light to Kim Il-sung, then black mailing Mao into the war.
- Relationship between China and USSR only deteriorated from then on.
